In 2011 the Botín Foundation added a second variable to its applied research projects. Its ultimate goal is to contribute towards social progress and development by means of improving the quality of education, among other things, and it is committed to the development of creativity as an inherent ability in human beings which has enabled us, over the course of history, to evolve and overcome challenges and everyday problems.
This study, whose results are detailed in the Fundación Botín Report 2012, aims to serve as a guide, enabling a somewhat deeper and better understanding of the concept of everyday creativity (as opposed to that of the great geniuses). This is the creativity that helps us in class, at home and with friends.
The challenge lies in seeking new forms to unblock and develop people’s creativity, as this will enable us to grow both individually and as a group.
We are born creative, capable of imagining and inventing, of looking and seeing things from multiple perspectives. Little by little this creative talent falls asleep; it becomes blocked, and along with it we gradually lose the opportunity to grow each day, to contribute to society and to enjoy the immense possibilities that our creativity offers us.
