To create insideout, Belén Zahera conducted extensive research across various European museums and universities, exploring how extinct species have been exhibited and, simultaneously, how dead languages have been represented.
Her interest focuses on investigating the various attempts to reconstruct genealogies, DNA sequencing, and the existence of those species. This has led to a series of formal studies developed using digital fabrication tools, with which Zahera created a series of hybrid objects whose source code is composed of a mixture of information related both to dead languages and extinct animals.
The exhibition’s organization of these 3D manifestations evokes natural history museums, complemented by a fictional documentary-style film.
