Notas para una dirección-Modelo para un almacenamiento (Notes for a Direction – Model for Storage) originates from the performance Re:horse, which, carried out on six occasions between 2006 and 2010, became a system for image production. During that period, twenty-six people created their own photographic records. The work proposes a model for the material storage of this entire body of documentation, functioning as a rudimentary database.
Re:horse is a performance consisting of the presentation of real elements (a person holding a horse, an audience, the artist, and his assistants) and their conversion into images. This conversion takes place through a process of simultaneous visual translation in which video cameras are used as instruments, camera-people act as performers, and a film—The Velvet Underground and Nico by Warhol—serves as the score.
The installation includes 26 large-format panels articulated within a lightweight supporting structure. Each panel displays selected images on its front. Their dimensions allow them to be placed either vertically or horizontally within each quadrant of the grid that contains them, so that the space between them forms an overall representation without losing their individual character.
