This work consists of two identical structures placed in different spaces, although in the same position: at the intersection formed by two walls and the ceiling. In each space, only one of the works can be seen, but both share the same temporal frame. Their polished aluminium structures mirror the architecture of the rooms they occupy, blending into the space and subtly enhancing our perception.
The placement of each of these two Quantum Sisters draws the viewer’s gaze to a part of the exhibition space that would normally go unnoticed—one that typically does not host any kind of artwork. With this pair of sculptures, Clara Montoya proposes a new approach to the act of contemplating art, imagining that, with the help of quantum physics, a sculpture might simultaneously exist in multiple dimensions. The title is the only clue to the existence of an extension of the work in another spatial dimension.
