SALMON: FEED CHAINS
Part 3 of the trilogy When [Salmon Salmon [Salmon]]
Performative Installation (20 mins), Aluminium speaker arm with rotating rotor and conical speaker end

Cooking Sections develops long-term, site-specific projects that question how to live and eat in the face of the climate crisis. Often working through sustained engagement with coastal ecologies, their practice traces the entanglements between humans, landscapes, and shifting environments. They have worked on the long-term CLIMAVORE project since 2015, exploring how to eat as humans change climates.

The final chapter of the trilogy When [Salmon Salmon [Salmon]] traces the global landscapes devoured to sustain salmon farms, spanning the anchovy-depleted waters of Peru, India, and Senegal, the krill-exhausted Arctic and Antarctic oceans, and the soy plantations carved from the deforested Amazon. Presented as an automated feeder—a rotating arm mimicking the mechanism that detects when farmed salmon are hungry and drives them to swim in endless circles—the piece immerses audiences in the perpetual motion of industrial feeding.
